Social Work after 12th in India: Complete Information

Social work as field has evolved into a more scientific based interventions as now the designing and implementation of the programs are based on research and other factors. The field in itself has a broad-spectrum of opportunities available. Even the social sector is not the first priority career for many but my personal experience is very good in this sector as I have seen mammoth growth. Aspirants who have completed or studied further and attained a degree same or equivalent to Masters in public health are leading the industry, they are the ones who are selected for long term research projects and are in giant organization in positions at par to corporate level management positions with handsome packages and excellent perks. There are multi-disciplinary positions which are obtained as a social worker just to mention a few, which are such as field workers also known as outreach staff, project managers, counselors, researchers, co-researchers, trainers, admin staff, auditors, monitoring and evaluation officers, program evaluators, program officers, team leaders, professional consultants, etc you can see for yourself how you can fulfill these position in a program or in a social organization according to your interest and qualification. Even though volunteers play an important role in a social work sectors there are volunteers who work out of sheer need to do philanthropy and there are other few who work to fill their time and earn a part-time salary. Both kinds of people are benefited and in future they also take up full time positions in projects. The only draw-back which I can see in the social work field is that there is a timeline to every project, that has been commenced, so if you are in an organization where there is scarcity of such projects then you have to look for another job in another organization or change your location frequently this happens to the workers in the social sector all the time. If you can live with this drawback then it is fine you courageously join the social sector.

The shipping industry is one of the oldest employers since the old times, although there are candidates who join the industry via a more traditional route but if you join the shipping industry after the completion of the BBA course then you will be offered a good package as you have done a course specifically focused on the shipping business. As far as the starting salary is concerned it will also depend upon many factors like the performance of the student in the course, aptitude of the employee, profile of the employer and Job Location.  However, the starting salary could be anywhere between 25-40k rupees per month. Although the joining salary is not that much but if you contemplate going for a master’s degree that is the Masters in Business application then you can get a higher salary package as well as good position in the company. There are other perks which you can look forward to which would be chance of sailing with discounts on the fare. At this point of post I would also like to point a drawback to the course which is that the course is specifically focused on the shipping industry and at some point of time you don’t want to continue in the industry or want to change the industry it will be difficult for you to do so. My suggestion to you all would be that you go for the specialized course at the bachelor level when you plan for the master’s degree then do a general MBA degree which could be appropriate to all the industry and trades. This would be a smart and a wise decision.
